BIOGRAPHY

 

Jacques Cartier was born in 1491 and he died in 1575. He came from Saint-Malo, in France. He wrote a book about his trip.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

GOALS OF THE JOURNEY

 

 

The goal of his journey was to discover gold. He wanted to discover Canada but he didn't want to discover a continent.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

THE ROUTE AND THE PROBLEMS

 

 

They went to Canada. They left Saint -Malo and they sailed to Canada in 1534. They arrived at the gulf of Saint-Laurent.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

THE TOOLS OF DISCOVERIES

 

 

The trip lasted twenty days. The problem they had was scurvy. They used some ships and they also used maps, compasses

and canoes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

CONTACTS WITH OTHER PEOPLE

 

 

They encountered Indian tribes, especially Iroquois. The contacts were peaceful.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

THE RESULTS OF THE JOURNEY

 

 

Jacques Cartier wanted to discover a continent. He discovered Canada but he didn't discover any gold. Their discoveries
