Biography

 

 

Fernand de Magellan was born in 1480 in Sabrosa (in Portugal). His familly was aristocratic.

We learnt about Magellan'sjourney by Antonio Pigafetta because he went to see the King.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Goals of the journey

 

 

 

The goal of his journey was to find a straight to go to the country of spices.

He didn't want to discover a new country and he didn't want to discover a new continent but he wanted to discover a new sea route.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The route and the problems

 

 

Fernand de Magellan wanted to go to India circumnavigating America by the south.

He left Spain to go to the Philippines. The crew arrived in Spain on the 7th of September 1522.

In his crossing, Fernand de Magellan faced a storm.

Contacts with other people

 

 

They encountered the natives of Philippines.

The encounters were violent because the natives killed Fernand de Magellan in 1521.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The result of the journey

 

 

 

He found a straight to go to India.

Their discoveries helped other navigators because the journey was faster than it was before Magellan.
