Secondary School

The courses in the Secondary school lay the foundation of understanding and knowledge for a comprehensive education  It should open up vistas for possibilities and bring solutions to students’ problems.

6th  Standard : Period of Adaptation
This is a big change from the Elementary school and requires the students to be particularly attentive. The 6th standard is a period of adaptation and the base for Secondary education,  the aim of which is :
• To consolidate the knowledge gained at Elementary school.
• To introduce students to new disciplines  and the teaching methods of the Secondary school.
• To improve students’ language skills and impart a sense of civic responsibility through all the disciplines.
•To help students to know themselves better and find their place amongst their peers.

• To build a solid base so that the students do well in the Secondary school and that their personal projects are in harmony with the education imparted.
7th  and 8th  Standard :
The Middle Period
This is a period of change for the pre-teenager . The adults around them must recognise and respect this phase in order to attain the following objectives:
• create an ambience, a culture  adapted to this age group,
• enrich the students’ educational experience by offering optional courses and  broaden their perspectives by making them participate class projects.
• Be attentive to their drawbacks, get them to be committed to what they are doing , to work independently, to be actively involved in the learning process,
• encourage  them to be self-critical, to be aware of their social and economic surroundings and to be familiar with the broad outline of education systems (getting to know the different options available),
• introduce a second language in the curriculum from the 8th standard.
9th  standard : Period of Orientation
The students become teenagers and begin to make their own plans for the future. The aim of this class is to prepare the students for the Secondary exams and their entry into the 10th  standard. This consists of :
• completing and consolidating the subjects done so far by the students and thus preparing them to deal with the subjects at the higher classes,
• helping students to make a clear  headed choice in harmony with their capacities, interests and aspirations.
