NEW ADVANCED SECTION OF EXCELLENCE IN SCIENCE

imageThe Indian public seeks an education of international standards. French companies based in India are seeking executives exposed to both cultures.
The French School wishes to open wider its doors to India and the world. It has a highly qualified administrative and academic staff.
An innovative and ambitious project aims to create a section of excellence in science based on a bilingual educational system, beginning from class 9 for a new public of Indian and international students who shall be selected based on their results in the sciences and wish to complement their education in the Indian system with education in sciences in the French system in order to have access to the best schools and universities in France, India or other countries. As a result, this double education will allow them to reach high posts of responsibility in French or Indian companies where their knowledge of both cultures will be certainly sought and valued.

The proposed system consists of a 4 year long science syllabus (from the 9th to the 12th standard):
-a bilingual English-French teaching method, during the first year, for students who enter Class 9 (having completed class 8)
-an intensive teaching of French during the first two years
-an education validated by the 'Baccalauréat Scientifique' (S) equivalent of the Indian higher secondary degree in science (cf. texts by the Association of Indian Universities on the equivalence of he degrees),
-a European indication of the degree for the certification of bilingualism (History and Geography exams in English)

The objective is to give an opportunity to proficient Indian students to access the best education in France or return to the Indian system of higher education, or to study elsewhere in the world or to pass from one system to the other in the best possible conditions

The partnerships between Indian and French professional institutions and universities will serve to create a network that will be the basis for the French School's effective orientation policy tailored to individual needs and open to both university systems. Several of them are already associated with the project. The Gem (Groupe des Ecoles des Mines) is a partner in the project

Companies that are following the project with interest have been solicited for sponsorship towards a system of scholarships and to pursue candidates that would be interested to work for French or Indian companies based in India or in France, after the completion of their studies.

One of the best schools in France, Lycée Louis Le Grand, is a partner in the project.
Its expertise will be used to create this section of excellence in science and it will collaborate in planning out the mathematics and physics curricula, in making question papers for the admission test and in selecting the students. The pedagogical choices have taken into account Indian syllabus and method of evaluation for a better adaptation of the project.

The educational innovation runs parallel to the renovation and modernization of the French school. Accommodation for students arriving from outside Pondicherry has been taken into consideration. The construction of a quality hostel is underway.
This project has received considerable encouragement from a significant number of Indian and French nationals, domiciled in India or France.

Registration for the admission test is already underway
Admission test will be held in February 2010.
