 SCOTTISH PHILOSOPHY

The British Society for the History of Philosophy and the Centre for the Study of Scottish at the University of Aberdeen are jointly sponsoring a conference on the theme of Scottish Philosophy, to be held at the University of Aberdeen in July 2004. Papers are invited on any topic relevant to the conference theme. Specific conference themes will include:

· Scottish Philosophy in the Mediaeval Period : Lockert, Mair, Scotus
· The Enlightenment Philosophers: Hutcheson, Hume, Smith, Reid, Stewart
· 19th Century Scottish Philosophy: Hamilton, Ferrier, Bain
· Scottish Social and Economic Thought: Smith, Ferguson, Caird
· The Scottish Idealists: Caird, Jones, Bosanquet
· The ‘Science of Mind’
· Scottish social and moral philosophy

Conference Coordinator: Gordon Graham, Regius Professor of Moral Philosophy, University of Aberdeen, Director of the CSSP

One page (max.) abstracts should be submitted by 1st December 2003. Notification of acceptance by February 1st 2004. All abstracts will be peer refereed and accepted papers will be assigned a commentator. Offers are also welcome from those who would like to serve only as a commentator.
